This Privacy Policy explains how Shade Route handles information when you use the Shade Route mobile application. The developer name used for this app is Shade Route.
Location data. If you grant location permission, Shade Route may access your approximate and precise location while you use the app. Location is used to show your position, choose a start point, build walking routes, improve search relevance, calculate shade and sun exposure, and retrieve weather or environmental information. Location permission is optional; you can also enter route points manually.
Search and route data. Search text, selected places, and route coordinates may be processed to provide address/POI search and walking directions.
Optional feedback. If you choose to send feedback, Shade Route may collect the text you submit and, only when you choose to include them, limited diagnostic information and/or location context needed to investigate the issue.
Technical request data. Our backend and infrastructure providers may temporarily process standard network information such as IP address, request time, request path, and user-agent information for security, reliability, rate limiting, and troubleshooting. Shade Route does not intentionally use Android ID, IMEI, or advertising identifiers for analytics in the current closed-test build.
Information is used only to provide and improve core app functions, including maps, search, walking routes, shade calculations, weather/environment context, navigation, service reliability, fraud/abuse prevention, and support.
Shade Route does not sell personal data and does not use location data for targeted advertising. The current closed-test build does not include an advertising SDK.
Shade Route uses service providers to operate core features. Depending on the feature you use, relevant request data may be processed by:
OpenStreetMap and Geofabrik are also used as geographic/map data sources. These data sources are not used by Shade Route to identify users.
We share only the information reasonably necessary for the requested feature. Service providers may process data under their own privacy terms.
Production communication with the Shade Route backend uses HTTPS. API credentials are stored server-side and are not intentionally embedded in the production mobile app. We use bounded logging and avoid storing precise route history as analytics telemetry.
Route history, saved places, preferences, and similar app data may be stored locally on your device until you clear it in the app or uninstall the app.
Optional feedback submitted to the Shade Route backend is configured for limited retention and is normally removed within 90 days. Service providers may retain technical logs according to their own security and operational policies.
Shade Route does not currently require users to create an account. For a privacy or deletion inquiry concerning information you voluntarily submitted, use the in-app feedback function and include any available feedback reference so the request can be identified.
The current closed-test build requests foreground location access for navigation and route planning. Background location access is not enabled in the current closed-test release. You can revoke location permission at any time in Android settings.
The current Google Play closed-test release is not directed to children. Shade Route does not knowingly collect personal information from children for advertising or profiling.
This policy may be updated when Shade Route features or data practices change. The date at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are made.
